Career Seminar Series: Science Communication

The Career Seminar Series will be a hosting a free virtual event covering Science Communication on September 29th @ 6 – 7:15pm. The event will bring together two fantastic speakers well-versed in science communication and engagement.

Celia Du is a science communication specialist with extensive experience engaging various audiences with science. She has worked with the Royal Canadian Institute for Science, Science Rendezvous, the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Science Everywhere, and Indus Space Inc and has been interviewed by Discovery UK, Global News, The Canadian Press, CFRA Radio and CTV News. With a background in Chemistry from McGill University and a Master’s in Science Communication and Public Engagement from the University of Edinburgh, she is dedicated to improving science communication practices to better bridge science and the public. She has led workshops and trained budding science communicators through the Royal Canadian Institute for Science, the SciCommTO Conference, Laurentian University’s Science Communication program, the Canadian Science Policy Conference and Lotus STEMM.

Ki-Youn Kim is a science communication specialist based in Ottawa who works with clients across Canada and around the world. Her professional work includes a wide range of projects from social and traditional media, infographic design, writing, and much more. Using her expertise, she also runs workshops and has trained hundreds of scientists and STEM professionals at various universities and institutions in Canada and the US. Currently, she is a director on the board of the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada.
