Renee Mastalerz, MSc 

Manager, Attraction & Sourcing, Hoffmann-La Roche Limited, Human Resources




Renee Mastalerz is a Manager of Talent Acquisition function at Roche Canada with over 15 years of experience in Recruitment.  Currently, she is responsible for the overall recruitment activity at Roche Canada and oversees the team of Talent Acquisition Managers.
Before joining Roche in 2014, Renee spent the first 6 years of her career in a pharmaceutical field working as a Medical Representative and Team Lead with Abbott Labs and Pierre Fabre Medicament respectively.  She joined Kelly Scientific as a Recruitment Consultant and later worked as Talent Expert at Shoppers Drug Mart and Global Talent Manager at ATS Automation main headquarters.
Renee obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Toronto.  She also holds a Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology from Jagiellonian University in Poland and Master’s degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from London School of Economics in UK.  She is an active member of HRPAO and an active networker.



Viraj Mane, PhD

Manager, Business Development & Research, Ontario Genomics 






Viraj obtained his PhD in Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the U.S. FDA where he designed, patented and licensed an RT-PCR assay for human interferon gene expression. Having recently completed nanotechnology coursework, he next took a Faculty Research Associate position at the University of Maryland to further explore nanoparticle-mediated oral drug delivery. He then transitioned to non-academic work by taking a Technical Analyst position supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, where he provided scientific and strategic guidance to develop a portfolio of medical countermeasures against Ebola, ricin, anthrax and others. Viraj then moved to Toronto and started work at MaRS Innovation to support the commercialization of early-stage biomedical technologies before joining Ontario Genomics. External ventures include graphic design (including a piece installed at the U.S. Library of Congress), an independently-researched medical device for which a patent is being issued.



Christina Wehrle, M.Sc.

Regulatory Affairs Associate, Intrinsik Corp.






Christina Wehrle, M.Sc. works at Intrinsik Corp. as a consultant in regulatory affairs. Christina works with clients from Canada, the US and Europe to gain marketing authorizations of their new therapeutics in Canada.  Previously, Christina worked in regulatory affairs at GlaxoSmithKline mainly in vaccines and HIV therapies, and guided drug and medical device patent approvals at a leading intellectual property firm in Japan.  Christina attended the University of Toronto for her M.Sc. in Medical Biophysics (Cell & Molecular Biology Stream) and McGill University for her B.Sc.(Hon) in Anatomy & Cell Biology.  Christina enjoys pursuing musical passions, including amateur musical theatre and taking accordion lessons.
