Making the most out of career fairs

Location: Medical Sciences Building (1 King’s College Circle), Room 2173 – Please use the building entrance by Tim Hortons (other entrances are locked after 6 pm).

This seminar is designed to help you to prepare for the 12th annual LSCDS Career Day.

The following topics will be covered:
1) How to prepare for career day
E.g. tips on polishing your LinkedIn, having a business card
2) What to do at the company fair
E.g. communicating with HR
3) How to find a mentor
E.g. what mentors are looking for in mentees
4) Networking tips and advice
E.g. how to start a meaningful connection and maintain the connection
5) How to follow up after career day
E.g. advice on using your new connections to get a job




Kelsey Law, PhD.

Kelsey is a Business Analyst at the immunotherapy biotechnology start-up Triumvira Immunologics Inc., a company co-founded by Bloom Burton & Co. and McMaster University that has its headquarters in Austin, TX and its research facilities in Hamilton, ON. At Triumvira, she performs business and scientific analysis of therapeutic development programs, overviews addressable markets based on applicable indications and competitive environment facing programs, and is responsible for areas of business development, including market evaluations, financial modeling/forecasting, licensing evaluations, and review of patents. Prior to Triumvira, Kelsey completed her PhD. at the University of Toronto in Biochemistry in Peter Kim’s lab. In Peter’s lab, Kelsey investigated a novel therapeutic approach for patients with Peroxisome Biogenesis Disorders (PBDs), a spectrum of rare neurodegenerative disorders. Kelsey’s research revealed a drug repurposing opportunity for PBDs that resulted in a patent and a commercialization lens.



Annie Zhang, CPA, CA

Annie is the founder of FinLitMe. She has worked in public accounting for 5 years in both audit and consulting. Her client base mainly consisted of large mutual funds and pooled funds, and large banks in Canada in their adoption of new accounting standards. She currently works for one of the biggest banks in the world supporting the finance function in reporting underwriting deals, trade activity and operations.







Darcy Roberts, BA, ACC

Darcy Roberts is a career coach and facilitator who wants people to love their work. She helps individuals and teams get more from each other. Her coaching superpowers include ruthless efficiency and a wicked sense of humor.

Darcy is a certified facilitator of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method, Effectiveness Coaching using the Emerson Suite, and the Facet5 personality assessment tool.
