6:20 – 7:20 p.m. Structured Networking (students are organized into groups, which rotate every 20 minutes)
7:20 – 8:00 p.m. Open Networking

Very limited space available. Registered individuals who do not show up will be prevented from registering for future events.

The Mini Networking Series is free for all students, post-docs and other research trainees at the University of Toronto or the affiliated research institutions. External participants must pay a $5 fee to register.

Vincent Leung, Ph.D.

Medical Writer and Learning Solutions Designer, Metrix Group

Vincent completed his Ph.D. in microbiology at the University of Toronto, and shifted out of academia by entering the start-up world before joining Metrix Group as a Medical Writer and Learning Solutions Designer. At Metrix, he has designed and developed the written and graphical content for many product and disease knowledge training materials across various therapeutic areas for pharmaceutical clients, and has served as project and medical leads on multiple projects.

Yuqing Wang, Ph.D.

Medical Writer and Learning Solutions Designer, Metrix Group


Yuqing Wang completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Toronto. During her graduate study, she developed a keen interest in medical communication. Yuqing was a mentor in the communication mentorship committee, helping fellow graduate students improve presentation design and delivery. To further understand the communication strategies used by the healthcare system, she completed a knowledge translation mentorship program at Hospital for Sick Children.

To pursue her passion in medical communication, Yuqing has joined Metrix Group as a Medical Writer and Learning Solutions Designer upon the completion of her Ph.D. Metrix Group is a learning agency that specializes in creating custom learning solutions for clients in finance, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors. In this role, she writes and designs digital training materials for sales representatives and medical science liaisons, covering a wide range of therapeutic topics. As a project manager, she collaborates intimately with her team members to develop creative learning strategies to solve clients’ training needs.

Yekaterina Poloz, PhD
Senior Creative, Healthcare, at john st

Starting with a PhD in biology from University of Toronto and a postdoctoral fellowship from the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Yekaterina laid the groundwork for a successful writing career in the healthcare industry. She has an extensive publication record and won multiple research awards, including a fellowship from the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the prestigious Alexander Graham Bell NSERC award. As a senior creative at john st, Yekaterina strategizes and writes marketing campaigns for healthcare clients including AstraZeneca, Abbott and Allergan, working across multiple therapeutic areas including mental health, oncology, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular, respiratory, vaccines and women’s health.

 Anuradha Kamath, MSc
Technical Writer, Global Pharmacovigilance, Apotex

Anu is Technical Writer at Apotex’s Pharmacovigilance division. She recently graduated with a Master of Biotechnology from UofT and entered the pharmaceutical industry as an intern in the Research and Development field. In her free time, she loves reading and painting while sipping on some hot chocolate.
