6:20 – 7:20 p.m. Structured Networking (students are organized into groups, which rotate every 20 minutes)
7:20 – 8:00 p.m. Open Networking

The Mini Networking Series is free for all students, post-docs and other research trainees at the University of Toronto or the affiliated research institutions. External participants must pay a $5 fee to register.

Marni Williams, PhD
Analyst, Shift Healthcare

Dr. Marni Williams is an Analyst at Shift Health with experience supporting clients from across the spectrum of HealthSphere stakeholders. Prior to Shift Health, Marni was a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University where she worked on novel approaches to drug discovery against malaria. Marni graduated with both her PhD and MSc degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She has authored nine publications, two of which were invited review papers. Marni is also currently completing her MBA at the Rotman School of Management where she is a recipient of the Kathy Duffy Memorial

Youssef Hayek, PhD
Analyst, Shift Health

Dr. Youssef Hayek is an Analyst at Shift Health where he is responsible for conducting primary and secondary research and performing high-level analytics to assist in the successful development and delivery of solutions to clients across the HealthSphere. During his tenure at Shift Health, Youssef has supported clients across government, academia, industry and the not-for-profit sector in conducting opportunity evaluations of health technologies, crafting business/strategic plans to guide research and commercialization activities, sourcing capital and facilitating partnerships. Youssef has gained diverse exposure to multiple disease arenas including oncology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular disease across broad geographic markets including the US, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Prior to joining Shift Health, Youssef was a post-doctoral fellow at the University Health Network in Toronto. Youssef graduated with a PhD in Physiology from the University of Toronto and a MBA in Finance from Queen’s School of Business at Queen’s University. He has authored 13 publications and is a recipient of the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada Doctoral Training Award and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Science to Business Award.

Samit Chatterjee, PhD
Senior Consultant, Brevitas Consulting Inc.

Samit joined Consultancy workforce in 2013. He works as a Senior Consultant at Brevitas Consulting Inc. He has a Master in Biotechnology and PhD in Cell Biology (TIFR, Bangalore, India). He completed postdoctoral stints at Cornell Med School (New York, USA) and UHN (Toronto, Canada). Around the same time, he was exposed to the world of Consulting and Industry careers. He specializes in validation consulting and end-to-end solution for regulatory compliance of pharmaceutical equipment and systems. In his current capacity he advises, plans and implements validation projects for brand and generic manufacturing clients across GTA. His other interests include volunteering for non-profits and fundraising events.

Robert Petrie, MSc
