Are you interested in a career in market access in the pharmaceutical industry? Join Dr. Shaun Ellis, the national director, government affairs and stakeholder engagement at Janssen and Dr. Stacey Hickson, manager of submissions and HTA at Janssen to learn about transitioning from academia to highly sought-after careers in market access.

Shaun Ellis Ph.D.
National Director, Government Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement, Janssen
Shaun is the National Director, Government Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement at Janssen. He has held previous roles at Janssen, including Therapeutic Director-Health Economics & Reimbursement and Director of Medical Affairs working across a diverse portfolio of innovative products in oncology, neuroscience, metabolic and chronic diseases. Prior to that, Shaun held various national and international positions within the pharmaceutical industry, giving him a broad perspective on the challenges of bringing innovative products, solutions and services to the people who need them.
Shaun holds a B.Sc. in Bio-Medical Sciences from the University of Guelph and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Calgary.
Stacey Hickson, PhD
Manager of Submissions and HTA, Janssen
Stacey is currently Manager of Submissions and HTA at Janssen Inc. (Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson). In this role, she is responsible for strategy and delivery of product submissions for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) as well as policy development.
Stacey has previously worked as a Consultant to the healthcare industry at QuintilesIMS specializing in Global Pricing and Market Access and International HTA policy. In this role she has worked on projects across Canada, Europe, US, and emerging markets for the Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industry as well as governments.
Prior to her consulting work, Stacey completed an internship at the World Health Organization in the Department of Chronic Diseases and Health Promotion. She holds a BSc in Life Sciences from Queen’s University (Canada), an MSc in Pharmacology from King’s College London (UK), and a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from Cambridge University (UK).
