About us:

The Precision Medicine initiative (PRiME) is a highly specialized research effort that draws on world-class research expertise across multiple academic divisions at the University of Toronto to collaborate toward new solutions for human diseases.

The vision of PRiME is to establish a globally competitive precision medicine hub to advance therapeutic drug discovery, diagnostic development, and disease biology research for improving patient health and create long-term economic benefits for society. The initiative will draw upon these strengths to produce high-impact scholarly research, and foster translational collaborations to elicit breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. Additionally, PRiME focuses on the training needs of the next generation of interdisciplinary researchtrainees. PRiME aims to unify and galvanize the core strengths of Toronto’s research community in drug discovery and diagnostic technologies to further elevate UofT’s global stature.

Your opportunity:

Under direction of the Director, Strategy & Partnerships, the candidate will support PRiME 's mission to elevate research, empower collaboration and create community by identifying funding and collaboration opportunities for PRiME researchers, assisting with the submission of grant applications, and assisting the coordination and execution of PRiME programming and offerings. Additional responsibilities will include creating content for the website, and maintaining and building PRiME’s social media presence. The candidate will also assist with logistics and organization of PRiME events, meetings, seminars, and workshops.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Verifying research funding proposals are complete, accurate and adhere to sponsor guidelines

  • Coordinating funding application processes

  • Editing funding application content

  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming

  • Coordinating meetings, taking meeting minutes

  • Writing news and feature stories

  • Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms and disseminating information via social media

  • Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with targeted social media communities

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Sciences; or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.

  • Minimum three (3) years of combined experience in a basic research setting and/or research grants administration together with junior level communications.

  • Experience drafting, editing, formatting information to be included in a variety of written documents, grant applications, website new stories, presentations and preparing reports.

  • Experience planning and coordinating events.

  • Experience in scheduling meetings.

  • Experience in taking meeting minutes.

  • Experience managing social media platforms and writing for a web audience.

  • Experience writing and editing articles for different formats (blog, articles, op-ed, peer-reviewed publications, etc.).

  • Excellent editing skills for web and print communications.

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to create and deliver content of a high quality across a range of formats appropriate to various media.

  • Experience in preparing, editing, formatting and drafting documents (ex. grant applications, CV, correspondence).

  • Strong communications skills (oral and written).

  • Detail-oriented, with demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and projects with conflicting deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 -- $59,412 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $75,979. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
