This week in #ScienceNews and #Innovation, last week saw the launch of Altos Labs, an aging research initiative backed by $3 billion in initial financing from figures including Jeff Bezos and Yuri Milner.

And, a new study suggests that 76% of common side-effects including headaches and fatigue felt after the first dose of the Covid vaccine can be blamed on the ‘nocebo’ effect – a combination of anxiety and expectation.

Finally, a DNA-based vaccine for Parkinson’s disease induced high levels of alpha-Synuclein targeting antibodies and improved some motor deficits in mice.

Kyla is a PhD candidate in the Department’s of Biochemistry (University of Toronto) and Cell Biology (The Hospital for Sick Children), where she studies the cellular basis of a pediatric brain disease.
